Project summary

The “Internationales Digitalkunst Festival” (IDKF) proposes new ways of rethinking how art should be presented and perceived. For this reason, it supports the artistic development and internationalisation of the Reactive Ensemble - a specialised music group dedicated to developing and experiencing a new performance practice in contemporary electronic music. The ensemble adopts an identity beyond the standard figure of fixed groups. It explores the concept of modularity, redefining its structure and function to meet the specific artistic needs of each concert programme. As a result of our last residency, this year the ensemble will create and perform a concert programme with new pieces written specially for them in collaboration with our partner festivals.

Reactive Ensemble

Biography: Reactive Ensemble (RE) revolutionises contemporary music by challenging traditional norms and expanding the ensemble concept into a dynamic and open form. It embraces instability and a lack of fixed identity to foster artistic freedom. Central to RE is its focus on developing new interpretative practices in contemporary electronic music by integrating new media and creating a symbiotic relationship between humans and machines. Its modular nature and philosophy of open collaboration enable adaptation to various projects and foster the creation of unique programmes that incorporate diverse cultural perspectives. Since its inception in 2012, RE has participated in numerous festivals and collaborations worldwide and granted residencies for its innovative contributions to music.
