Project summary

We use the expression "deja vu" to define the feeling that in some way we have already experienced what is happening now. It’s a collapse between past-present-future, and it's exactly the feeling that Alessandro Businaro has experienced during the "sagre": Italian ritual festivals where local foods are at the centre. During these collective rituals, food becomes a magical element that allows a community to keep its own identity alive. Thus comes “Deja Vu”, a participatory performance project which focuses on the relationship between rituals and food, and on how this relationship can shape the identity of a community. The project will be divided into two parts and two locations: Ville-sur-Jarnioux (FR) and Rocca di Mezzo (IT) where Businaro will collaborate with two local performers.
