Project summary

Dancing borders is a trilateral project of residencies involving La Briqueterie CDCN du Val-de-Marne as the leading partner in France, INTERPLAY/Mosaico Danza in Italy and Fabrik Potsdam/ Potsdamer Tanztage in Germany. he project will provide Collectif ÈS, a young French collective of emerging artists, with dedicated time, space and support in three EU countries to develop their new work, About Lambada, which questions the utopia of the European Union after the fall of the Berlin wall. The summer hit Lambada was released the same year of the German Reunification. Taking the correlation of these events in time as a starting point, About Lambada connects the fall of the Berlin wall with Lambada, borders with bodies moving together. How can the pop anthem Lambada bring us together (again)?

Collectif ES

Biography: Collectif ÈS are Sidonie Duret, Jeremy Martinez, Émilie Szikora. The collective was born out of a desire to search, investigate and explore choreographic language as a group of three. They have been co-creating shows since 2011 by tackling, with a degree of self-mockery, themes such as utopia, discord, and the plagiarism and/or inheritance of popular cultural references.
The creative process is an opportunity to come together, work together, and question their relationship with others. Alongside their stage productions, they simultaneously developed their Série Populaire, which consists of three episodes: I Wanna Dance, Karaodance and Loto3000. The series arose out of their desire to revisit well-known, codified and unifying events, in order to bring people together through dance.
