Project summary

Young saxophonist and composer Nestor Vasilakis will travel across the Aegean Sea to collaborate with Greek, Turkish, Cypriot and international jazz musicians. A student at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama BMus Hons Jazz, recipient of the Athena Scholarship, he will be able to present in June with his quartet new original compositions at the Palace of the Knights for Rhodes & South Aegean International Jazz Festival, at sister festival Bodrum Jazz Festival and at parallel events at the Athens Jazz Festival. He will also present workshops and seminars at the Music School in Rhodes and at Bodrum Dibeklihan Cultural Centre. Later in December, he will participate at Cyprus Jazz & World Music Showcase in Rialto theatre in Limassol Cyprus.

Biography: Nestor Vasilakis - Saxophonist, composer
Born in Athens Greece 18/12/2000
Graduate of Music high school of Pallini in Athens.
Has performed at: UN New York Jazz Democracy Forum, Centre of Hellenic Studies Harvard University DC Eurobeat Festival, Jazzy Colors Festival Paris, Nublu Jazz Festival New York, Vortex Jazz Club London, Rhodes & South Aegean International Jazz Festival, Bodrum Jazz Festival, Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens Concert Hall.
Has attended workshops and played with legend players like David Liebman, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Dave Kikoski, Benito Gonzales, Essiet Okon Essiet, Sylvia Cuenca, Andy Sheppard, Craig Bailey.
Since 2022 he has been studying at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama at the BMus Hons Jazz, a recipient of Athena Scholarship.
