Project summary

'…Confluence of Sounds - Bridging new music' is a project that unites music and musicians from Portugal, Belgium and Iran. Through collaborative compositions and performances, the Ensemble DME (Portugal) intricately weaves together elements from these three countries, creating a dynamic and captivating musical experience that transcends cultural boundaries. In addition to its artistic endeavours, this project actively engages in cultural diplomacy and community outreach, organising workshops, masterclasses and educational initiatives to promote intercultural understanding and appreciation of contemporary art music.

Ensemble DME

Biography: Ensemble DME was created in 2013 as part of the DME Project, an initiative founded by the composer Jaime Reis to promote contemporary and electroacoustic music practice. It has worked with conductors such as Jean-Sébastien Béreau, Pedro Figueiredo, Rita Castro Blanco and Valerio Sannicandro.
Ensemble DME has performed in numerous concert halls and festivals, among which we highlight Logos Foundation (Gent, Belgium), a tour in Brazilian universities with around twenty concerts, Auditorio Santa María (Plasencia, Spain), Casa da Música (Porto), Palácio Foz and Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga (Lisbon).
Ensemble DME has four phonographic editions, including monographs by Mario Mary (CMMAS label) and João Pedro Oliveira, and editions focusing on works by contemporary Portuguese authors.
