Project summary

JOURNEYING, by the Hungarian collective SVUNG Research Group, is a nascent participatory lecture performance, a multimedia project and installation involving local contributors and participants from around the globe. Moving around, migration is very present in our life (and in society): people fleeing because of political and environmental events, choosing to be digital nomads, changing cities for study, work, economic stability or love. One special inspiration of the work is the context of rising emigration in Hungary in reaction to the political situation - as well as the general longing for relocation, and the guilt and questions connected to it. Residencies and the presentations will happen at the three festivals partly live and partly online - which makes the project more sustainable.

Biography: SVUNG Research Group is an ever-changing cluster of dancers, dance pedagogues, and applied theatre experts working at the crossover of disciplines like somatics, architecture, food design, nature trailing etc. The collective, established in 2019, designs workshops, pre-performance warm-ups for the audience, participatory events and installations, where participants explore the surrounding land- and soundscape, the common bodyscape and relationscapes. SVUNG acknowledges dissensus and the unpleasant as premises for individual and social change.
