Project summary

Focused on the development of Giacomoni’s work, ‘È solo un lungo tramonto’, the residency project consists of two parts: a first period, 17-21 July 2024, aiming at presenting a short version of the piece to international operators, and a further period, 21-27 April 2025, willing to test the realisation of an art installation version. Leveraging the festival’s network of partners, the presence of international directors, and a vast public, Teatri Riflessi wants to connect the Italian author to the international panorama, benefitting particularly from the partnership with Swiss festival gARTen in providing dramaturgical tutoring and connections abroad. In this vision, the residency offers the author a chance to experiment with formats and audiences, opening up to the final form of his work.

Jacopo Giacomoni

Biography: Jacopo Giacomoni (Trento,1987) graduated in Philosophy with a thesis on the existence of fictional characters. He works as a playwright and performer. In 2023, he won the special mention Franco Quadri (Riccione Prize). He carries on a structuralist research on dramaturgy, designing performative devices to welcome audience participation and chance. In his recent works, he’s created dramaturgical parasites that attack existing textual organisms, a theatrical device for electing humanity's greatest tragedy, a theatrical office for the celebration of a funeral on stage, and a theatrical hauntology experiment on the loss of his father's memory. As a performer, he merges his path as an actor with that of a saxophonist in an ongoing exploration of free improvisation and non-idiomatic sounds.
