Project summary

The “Internationales Digitalkunst Festival” (IDKF) proposes new ways of thinking how art should be presented and perceived. For this reason it supports the collaboration between Reactive Ensemble and OP:___, which is dedicated to developing and experiencing a new kind of performance practice in contemporary electronic music. The focus is on finding new ways of conceiving concert programmes that explore the concept of hybridisation between new music and theatre performance. The basic idea is to break down traditional concert clichés. Dynamic and challenging proposals will be made, incorporating visual and scenic elements. In contrast to music theatre, the aim is to add a new dimension to the concert format with innovative forms of music interpretation to enhance the listening experience.

Biography: The collaboration between Reactive Ensemble and OP:___ is dedicated to the development and experience of a new kind of performance practice in contemporary electronic music. On 27 February 2022, Reactive Ensemble ft. OP:___ was selected as part of the "Rheinsberg Residence Ensemble for New Music 2022". The collaboration focuses on finding new ways to conceive concert programmes that explore the concept of hybridisation between new music and theatre performance. The main idea is to break traditional concert clichés with dynamic and challenging proposals that incorporate visual and scenic elements. In contrast to music theatre, the idea is to add a new dimension to the concert format through the way it is presented and perceived.
