More than 100 emerging artists and festivals took part in the inspiring EFFEA Intake Seminar 2023.
The European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists - EFFEA Intake Seminar 2023 took place on Thursday 16 & 17 February and gathered more than 100 EFFEA festivals and artists who will benefit of EFFEA grants this year.
The one-and-a-half-day event was designed to facilitate first contacts between artists and festivals, to foster a space of connection, as well as to allow reflection on crucial topics that concern both festivals and artists as well as their relation with each other, namely fair remuneration practices, arts and well-being brought by the EFFEA speakers Rariţa Zbranca, Cristina Farinha, Martina Magkou, Thobile Maphanga.
Following the first day of networking formats and knowledge-sharing workshops with inspirational input from experts, we had the chance and honour to listen to an inspiring conversation between Akram Khan, Artistic Director, Choreographer, Dancer, and Haris Pašović, theatre/film director. Akram Khan highlighted how important it is to have projects like EFFEA that give power to the process and allow artists to make space to explore and make mistakes.
The EFFEA Intake Seminar is an initiative of the European Festivals Association in collaboration with The Festival Academy and supported by the European Commission under the Creative Europe programme.
