Project summary
The chosen theme and structure of this project proposal aims to address key European dimensions in terms of supporting the cultural expression, through creativity and exchange, of a young and emerging artist in the context of a diverse and creative community. There are four main ways in which the proposed project is related to the needs of the selected author, Tatevik Chakhchakhyan (pen name, Tatev Chakian). These relate to: - creative writing and the development of new work, - having her work translated into other languages, principally Czech, English, Greek, Maltese and Welsh reflecting the main languages of the participating festivals, - connecting with local communities and collaborating with other writers and translators, iv. engaging with new audiences.© Goethe Institut Georgia

Biography:
Tatev Chakhian (1992 Yerevan) is a Poland-based Armenian poet, translator and visual artist. She graduated from the faculty of Cultural Anthropology at Yerevan State University & has a degree in International Relations and Border Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland. She is fluent in Armenian, English, Russian, and Polish. She published her first volume of poetry in Armenian, unIDentical, in 2016. The book is an “unofficial document” which grants the reader a passage from the poet's personal reality to the social one allowing them to wander in and between the spaces. The book was nominated for the 2018 European Poet of Freedom, the 5th edition of the Literary Award of the City of Gdansk and was published in Polish as Dowó (nie)osobisty [Non-identity card]. In 2015 she received the Sahak Partev literary prize for Armenian literature and the Literary Award of the first lady of Armenia. In 2016 she received the annual prize of "Obywatelska" Polish magazine and the Polish literary award by Dionis Maliszewski. Tatev combines poetry with mixed media and collaborates with urban artists, filmmakers and musicians. Tatev translates and promotes Polish poetry and Iranian contemporary poetry, as well as translating authors from English and Russian. Currently, she is the co-editor of www.iranliter.com platform of translated Iranian literature and Arteria literary magazine in Armenia. She is a member of PEN Armenia.
