Project summary

Based on the theme of CONTEXTILE 2024 - a revisiting of the concept of "Touch" in artistic and sociological practice - the residency will allow the artist to develop a creative project in an environment that is both intercultural and ingrained in the creative, social, and productive ecosystem that determines the identity of a textile culture territory. The residency will foster collaboration, promoting unlikely partnerships and creative processes focusing on sustainability, innovation, and experimentation with new materials, as well as safeguarding identity traits and ancestral forms of "know-how." The residency will also include a knowledge-sharing programme on how modern art can decode textile cultures, as well as providing artists with new tools to boost their international career.

Nikolina Krstičević

Biography: Nikolina Krstičević is a textile artist from Croatia She graduated in Textile Design at the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb in 2022. She has exhibited at various group exhibitions and had three solo shows. She won third place in the Textile and Fashion Design category at Zagreb Design Week (2021) and exhibited at the XIV triennial of Croatian sculpture and biennial of textile arts Bien in Kranj (2021, 2023). She also participated in the Briefing on Soft Arts programme of the Centre for Fashion and Clothing Research, during which the work Family Lunch (2023) was created through artistic research. In her work, she explores the unconscious and the bodily aspect of emotions, combining sculpture, textile and painting. She is a member of Ulupuh, a Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts.
