Project summary

“Hybrid Explorations” explores the concept of hybridity through the interaction of multidisciplinary artistic practice and physical/digital presence. A group of emerging composers will work on new pieces which integrate live instrumental music with audiovisual media and stage elements. The first stage of the residency will take place in Tinos, Greece; the composers will be hosted by the Delian Academy and will benefit from experimenting with our ensemble in residence on practical and theoretical aspects of their ideas. Following the experimentation stage, the composers will take part in a series of online workspaces which will help them develop their pieces. During the last stage, the composers will be hosted by IDKF and present their pieces in Stuttgart, Germany.

Collective ECHO52

Biography: ECHO52 is a hybrid collective of composers digitally based in Neukölln, Berlin. The ambition of the collective is to value the connectivity offered by modern telecommunications into artistic territorialisation. The group explores concepts of artificiality and humanness through the interaction of instrumental forces and audiovisual media and presents works in concerts, sound installations and interdisciplinary performance art. It includes Tobias Fandel (New York/Berlin), Sandra Gonzalez (Buenos Aires), Chin Lan Chun (Hong Kong), Kyungjin Lim (Berlin), Savannah Agger (Berlin), and Tomislav Oliver (Zagreb).
