Project summary

The project raises awareness on climate change through theatre, creating a network of international theatres (POLIS Teatro Festival – Italy, Festival of International Alternative Theatre – Montenegro, MOT International Theatre Festival – North Macedonia) to support the production and development in their respective territories of the new participatory and site-specific performance GAIA by ErosAntEros. The performance will be adaptable to the spaces and communities it encounters, through the engagement of associations, young actors and climate activists in workshops that will precede the staging and through meetings with climate change and theatre scholars. GAIA is a performance focused on the environmental catastrophe and the exploitation of the Earth by humans.

Artist

ErosAntEros

Biography: ErosAntEros was born in 2010 from the union of Davide Sacco, theatre director and music designer from Ravenna, and Agata Tomsic, Italian-Slovenian actress and dramaturg, first as an artistic group that handles various sources and expressive languages with the aim of connecting theatre to life and making imagination a tool to transform reality; then also as an organisation that fosters theatre culture through the production and distribution of contemporary theatre performances, the programming of events, training and participatory projects, and the development of ErosAntEros' artistic work in Italy and abroad. Over the years, they have been produced by theatre institutions of the highest renown - such as Théâtre National du Luxembourg, Ravenna Festival, ERT - Emilia Romagna Teatro / National theatre, Fondazione Teatro della Toscana, TPE - Teatro Piemonte Europa, Fondazione Luzzati - Teatro della Tosse. Since the beginning they have been involved in important international projects at: the Festival d’Avignon, selected by the call of Festival d’Avignon, Pro Helvetia and MiBACT; the F.I.N.D. plus festival of the Schaubühne in Berlin (Germany) chosen by Emilia- Romagna Teatro for the Prospero Project co-financed by the Creative Europe program of the EU; the Odin Teatret / Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium of Holstebro (Denmark); the Grotowski Institute of Wroclaw (Poland).
