Project summary

The project aims to unpack the performing creativity and talents of Dushime (as a musician, signer, performer, actor) to the international music scene and to new audiences. The partnership among Ohhfive festival in Uk, Atlantico Festival in Italy, Bozar Afropolitan Festival and Som•m•e Of Us collective in Belgium, arises with the aim of connecting the music communities from North to South Europe and to foster an equitable collaboration among established organisations and independent and emerging realities. The project, developed around Dushime’s work, will be built during a multidisciplinary residency at Som•m•e Of Us and a workshop, with the coaching support of the partner festivals. It will result in a hybrid music performance presented in the framework of Afropolitan Festival 2024

Dushime

Biography: Dushime also known as Andie Dushime, o1995, Kigali ,(film/ theatrical actress, musician, singer, storyteller and performer) is a fresh appearance on the Belgian art scene. For several years now, the Belgian- Rwandan artist has been moving through the Flemish cultural world. Through her multidisciplinary approach on the musical level and authentic, powerful and vulnerable performance style on the theatrical level, she brings with her a rare individuality. 

In 2020, she dug deeper and developed within her musical framework . For instance, she experimented with the layering of the voice by looping/sampling it in different ways . To that extent, her musical quest for endless textures and shapes of her voice (through loop pedals, loop stations, sampling voice) started. The genesis of her music
