Project summary

The aim of the project is to support Catol Texeira in the process of creating their new performance. ZONA de DERRAMA revolves around themes of resources and their exhaustion, regeneration. As a first group piece Catol looks attentively at the notion of transmission to construct the poetic and imagination of the choreography, tracing the practices that are going to raise the language and aesthetics of the work. ZONA de DERRAMA proposes to overflow what could be poetics of infiltration, embodying the matter of the organic world as a metaphor for finding tactile ways to move in the hostile capitalist-white-cis-world hetero centered. Dance is here as a tool to undo bodily technologies of discipline, purity and control.

Catol Teixeira

Biography: Catol Teixeira perform and create dances. Born in Porto Alegre (1993*) is currently based in Geneva, Switzerland. They hold a bachelor degree in contemporary dance of La Manufacture (2021) - Lausanne. Catol dances while transitioning. They are curious to deal with physical endurance and their movement research transits in between somatic practices and physical forms. They are curious to move in between poetics and dissonant emotions evoked through the body. They dance as a way to not forget that bodies are a place of crossing, negotiating between time, a threshold of memories and a field of moving desires. Their first solo work "La Peau Entre Les Doigts" has been shown at Belluard Bollwerk, Sevelin36, Santarcangelo Festival, Gessneralle, Subsistance, Thèatre Vidy, TQW.
